I really need a box for my H18 trailer.
   I can't buy a 700.00 box but I could spend a couple hundred.
Any ideas on materials for home made even?
My old box just about ruined my sails. It leaks, and critters can get in.

Off topic but how fun is that Force 5 to sail? I have been keeping my out for one of those on craigslist but have not seen one for the right price. I will keep my eye out for a sailbox too.

I just got the Force 5.
I just got the Force 5.  (craigslist! 1,000.00)  It was more than I wanted to spend too.
I've had it in the water once so far. It's pretty cool.  More comfortable than a Laser or the Capri, but probably a tad slower. At least the Portsmouth ratings say so.
I'm currently modifying the trailer, so I can carry both the Force 5 and the Capri, and sail them with my kids. Maybe even put the OD11 on top of the Capri so I can take all 3 boats!
One thing nice about these boats is the short set up and take down time. 5-10 minutes, and you're on the water. It takes me an hour to set up my Hobie. Of course that boat has a completely different thrill, as you well know.  There aint no replacing the ride you get when trapping and flying a hull!
I've been looking high and low for another trailer box and not finding anything. I'm starting to think I may have to just fix up my old one. Maybe a layer of fiberglass over the wood. I'm tired of working on my stuff though. I wanna go out and play!
Will be out at ten mile soon I'm sure.
   See Ya,
  Jim

The problem is the H18
The problem is the H18 daggerboards are too dang wide.
Otherwise, the best cheap solution is a PVC storm sewer tube.  There is a place just south of 290, on Senate I believe, that has them and will sell to the general public.  Look at the 290/BW8 interchange with a satellite view and you'll see the pipe yard.
For most boats, a 15" or 18" pipe will work well.  They come in 20' lengths for ~$50 per length (very big guesstimate).  Each end will be open and needs to be sealed or covered.  They may have end caps at the pipe yard that would be perfect for the purpose.  Attachement to the trailer is by U-bolts and a half-round cradle.  The H18 daggerboards may need a bigger tube, may need an oval tube (might be special order), or they can be placed in a seperate box or in the towing vehicle.

I don't really have a good place to store my cat stuff so it all stays in the trailer box. So it needs to be pretty good.   I thought if I was patient, a good used box might turn up.   Guess I'm due for some more carpentry and fiberglass practice!

Jim you better get use to the dog house if you plan on hanging out at 10 mile as it can get expensive some weekends! Rudders, daggers, tillers, battons, castings & the occasional boat have been destroyed at 10 Mile.

I'm in pretty deep this time.
I'm in pretty deep this time. So far this year, I bought:
  Capri 13
 Force 5
 OD 11
all new rigging for the H18
 sail repairs at Banks
  2 new battens
and now I'm asking forgiveness for a cat box.
Proof that it's better to ask for forgiveness, than permission!
