I would like some information on harnesses.  Do I need them early in the learning curve or are they advanced tools?
Also, are there any other items that would be recommended for use?

I'm trying to get set to splash my H16 this next week, maybe Sunday.

harness
I think it wise to wait and go out with some one with experience on the trapeze. We, Todd and I(Frank) did some this past weekend and it was great.
But I sailed for a month or two before some one asked me if I was ready to trap out. It is scary at first, but then that's all you want to do. Come down to
mile ten (access 6) and meet some people and learn alot. One thing at a time. give me a call at 281-435-8661

I always wear a harness of some kind. If you flip the boat it is easier to right the boat with a harness in my opinion. I throw the righting line over the high side then hook it into my harness and lean back until the mast is out of the water. Then i get a good grip on the line, unhook from harness and lean as far out as i can. I would suggest that if you ever go out solo to wear one incase you need to right the boat alone. Its not really needed but it does make it slightly easier to right with less energy used.

If you need one let me know because i have several types and brands. You can try a few on before you buy one to see which type you prefer.

Get one!
You really should get one for your teenagers to trap out on they will love it! If you go out to ten mile you will learn really fast and that h16 sails way better with someone on the wire she is much smoother faster and feel way more stable.
