Is this event going to happen this year? If so when? It would be good to get the schedule sorted out before the season actually starts.Hopefully this event will live on it has a long history.I know the hurricane damaged the dike and has messed things up for you guys. However I have been to Palacious and that venue has no damage.

2010 Schedule
We are planning two races for 2010.  Wayward Winds Sept. 18 and 19 and The Texas Two Step, an offshore short distance race October 16 and 17.  The decision was based on a few different factors 1.  The early part of the year is already pretty booked  2.  July and August are open but that time of year typically produces hot and sticky and not much wind 3.  When choosing to run two out of three regattas we chose to run regattas that our more local to our club 4.  Aaron McCulley has already said that the Alter Cup qualifier will be a separate event  5.  TCDYC is planning to pool resources to assist Billy Richnow with the Alter Cup and May
TCC has been a great event in years past and we hope to plan the 2011 schedule in late 2010 to give ourselves an earlier shot at the calendar and to try and run three events in 2011 including TCC.
Have you heard anything about rather Ides of March is going to happen?  I hope to be there if it does but it will be a last minute decision as I should be having a baby about the same time.

No.  We are omitting a Div. 6
No.  We are omitting a Div. 6 regatta this year to hold a race, that based on polls with TCDYC members, will have a good turn out and bring people into racing that we have not seen before.  Hopefully, like the Sailing Clinic, this will bring more boats to other regattas that are Div. 6 events.

The rumour I've heard is March 201/21 - but I don't think I've seen anything official.

As Collin said - the volunteers who make all this possible have committed to 3 events in 2010 - and TCC is not currently one of them. Now I know TCC is not too hard to run - the Palacios Yachy club do a lot of the heavy lifting. Is there any possible help from other Division fleets to make that event happen? I'm happy to help with the coordination - even though I'm not a TCDYC officer this year.

The key question is when to run it. Any thoughts on a good date John?

btw - TCC = Texas Catamaran Championships - over 30 years of tradition and a perpetual trophy. The last winner was Hurricane Ike - which wiped out plans to hold the event in 2008. In 2009 we were all busy and struggled to get 2 formal events off the ground.

Chris.

Andrew & I were just discussing TCC & what could be done to get it back on track sooner than 2011.   It appears we will not have our next multi until well into the season if that soon, so we are free to step forward & offer assistance for putting TCC on this year.
We spend alot of time in & around Palacios already & would be able to coordinate with the yacht club there.  At this time, we are booked solid thru June.  We have sporadic commitments throughout the rest of the year.  Please let us know sooner than later if you need or want our help so we can coordinate calendars.

I put a bug in one of the Austin Fleet members ears. There once was a time when they used to help with that regatta. Most of the other fleets put on more than one regatta. Lately they have only been putting on Hill Country and they are the largest most active fleet in the division.Maybe it's time to HTFU Austin boys

October 2nd and 3rd would be a good date for TCC.  It would allow two weeks between all events.

From the AYC club meeting minutes...
"Aaron McCulley told us about his plans to run the Texas Catamaran Championship at Palacios in October. However, his date conflicts with AYC Leukemia Cup. We are tentatively planning to hold the TCC as a part of AYC Leukemia cup this fall. There will be another installment of TCC at Palacios in Spring 2011. We applaud Aaron for taking up the gauntlet and we intend to support him in his efforts with respect to the TCC. "

Looks like AYC has got it covered!

By accident I happened to see the TCC perpetual trophy a couple of weeks ago at Houston Yacht Club in a trophy case. Not sure how it got there. Contact me prior to the event so that it can be awarded whenever this happens
