Wurstfest Regatta - Lake Canyon Yacht Club

11/07/2009
11/08/2009
US/Central
Finishing off the 2009 Division 6 regatta circuit in style is Wurstfest Regatta, on beautiful Canyon Lake.
Hosted by Lake Canyon Yacht Club, there is free tent and RV camping on the yacht club grounds (no RV hookups - but hey, who needs AC in November?). On saturday night there is a band and the club runs buses into New Braunfels for those who wish to sample the delights of the Wurstfest.

The event will also serve as the Area F qualifier for the 2010 Alter Cup (the U.S. Sailing Multihull Championships).

F-18 North Americans starts today

The F-18 North American Championship starts today at Long beach, California. Jim Kondziela and I are competing, as are John Tomko and Aaron Mcculley (on a very shiny new Hobie Wildcat). We'll be posting bits and pieces here as we get time. Official coverage and results will be on http://naf18.com and video footage will be on http://sailinganarchy.com thanks to Jeremy from Surf City Catamarans.

This event is always a favorite of the TCDYC crowd!  Any sailing that also involves camping is right up our alley. This year, Scott is reviving the 'round the island format!  This race will always be dear to me as it was my first catamaran race, the first time I trapped-out, and the only time I've seen Andrew in my rear view mirror ;)  Not to mention the most off the hook Poker Run to never happen again....LOL

Team TCDYC wins 2009 Great Texas

Team TCDYC won the 2009 Great Texas Catamaran Race by the slimmest of margins - less than 30 seconds after 300 miles of racing. Our main sail tore on the leach at the mid point early on the last leg, losing us precious horsepower when the wind lightened up. Jim and I worked hard and managed to keep close enough to Team Sail Shop to grab the victory. There were a number of TCDYC sailing seminar graduates out racing on Saturday. Teddy, Earnest and Chris in the dash, and of course Jim who raced the Great Texas with me (his first catamaran race!). More stories on the race to follow soon. Results and pictures from both the GT300 and dash are on the www.gt300.com Chris.

Great Texas - Team TCDYC thread

Team TCDYC is here in beautiful South Padre island. All the teams are here - including John Tomko and Ian Billings as a last minute entry (no, Tiff has not had the baby yet!). Jim and I got the boat rigged yesterday and today we made a practice run from Laguna Madre out the channel to the Padre South hotel where the start is. We arrived in style a few minutes  before our safety inspection - which we passed.

TCDYC Great Texas Preparations

We'll be carrying a couple of video cameras with us during the race - and if the stars and the moon align we'll be posting some footage (probably once we get back - no 3G reception in the boonies on the Texas coast. The cameras got a test drive today - the first section is flickery because it was late afternoon and it caught a lot of glare from the low sun.

The race begins a week on Wednesday. You can follow the action here on tcdyc.com or on http://gt300.com Chris.

Tybee 500 - thanks to everyone who made it possible

I owe a lot of thanks to a bunch of people who made this race happen for me - despite my lack of planning and last minute prep. read on
